Secure Input is generally enabled when you type into a password field. You can manually edit the loginwindow application in macOS using the security command. However, the system can sometimes get into a state where it thinks it is permanently in a password fields. Ive written a script that finds the offending processes, so I can decide how to handle them. Restarting Word should remove the Secure Input block. In particular, the loginwindow process is a common culprit, and stopping that automatically would immediately log me out. We recommend starting with the slowest setting, then bringing it back towards the right until you're seeing predictable behaviour. TextExpander also shows loginwindow when it can't tell which app did it (loginwindow is the parent process). Alfred's Snippets feature relies on the Cmd + V hotkey combination being used for pasting the clipboard contents. Using your preferred text editor, edit the XML mechanism array. TextExpander expands snippets in response to what you type. Secure input prevents key-logging malware from recording applications, but it also prevents snippet expansion.
